Ash-Shams · 1
1
وَٱلشَّمْسِ وَضُحَىٰهَا
And have shown him the two ways? [1]
Meccan
91. Ash-Shams
الشمس · The Sun · 15 ayahs
Ash-Shams · 2
2
وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَىٰهَا
But he has not broken through the difficult pass. [1]
Ash-Shams · 3
3
وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّىٰهَا
And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass?
Ash-Shams · 4
4
وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰهَا
It is the freeing of a slave
Ash-Shams · 5
5
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنَىٰهَا
Or feeding on a day of severe hunger
Ash-Shams · 6
6
وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَىٰهَا
An orphan of near relationship
Ash-Shams · 7
7
وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّىٰهَا
Or a needy person in misery
Ash-Shams · 8
8
فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَىٰهَا
And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion.
Ash-Shams · 9
9
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن زَكَّىٰهَا
Those are the companions of the right. [1]
Ash-Shams · 10
10
وَقَدْ خَابَ مَن دَسَّىٰهَا
But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left. [1]
Ash-Shams · 11
11
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَىٰهَآ
Over them will be fire closed in. [1]
Ash-Shams · 12
12
إِذِ ٱنۢبَعَثَ أَشْقَىٰهَا
By the sun and its brightness
Ash-Shams · 13
13
فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ نَاقَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَسُقْيَـٰهَا
And [by] the moon when it follows it
Ash-Shams · 14
14
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنۢبِهِمْ فَسَوَّىٰهَا
And [by] the day when it displays it [1]
Ash-Shams · 15
15
وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَـٰهَا
And [by] the night when it covers [i.e., conceals] it
